Reprieve is a shou pu erh from Menghai, China. Her patient and steady energy is reflected in the consistency she offers throughout the tea ceremony. Bowl after bowl is dark and rich, grounding you in the depths of the moment.
This tea has notes of chocolate and blackberry with an aroma resembling the forest on a rainy day. Slightly bitter and slightly sweet, this shou pu erh warms the stomach and clears the head.
Reprieve keeps going for hours and is perfect for a proper morning or afternoon tea ceremony. Though if you’re longing for a big mug of warming tea, Reprieve will provide you exactly what you need, even without a ceremony.
Brewing tips:
Preparing Reprieve in a sidehandle pot is the easiest way to meet her. Add some leaves to the pot and pour hot water from the kettle over them, the pour the tea in a tea bowl. After drinking, fill the pot back up with water, and so on. To go deeper, try a gong fu session with short, quick infusions.
This way you can sit with her for hours. Reprieve won't turn bitter when steeped too long, though she will turn lighter earlier in the session.
